Economic characterization of a new winter feed barley Fanagoriya

The study was carried out during 2014 – 2018 at Dobrudzha Agricultural Institute – General Toshevo. Following a two-year testing within the system of the national Executive Agency of Variety Testing, Field Inspection and Seed Control, barley Fanagoriya was registered and included in the Variety List of Bulgaria. The intellectual property right is protected with certificate No 11172 Р2 / 18.06.2019 issued by the Patent Agency of Republic of Bulgaria. The characteristics of the new variety under the conditions of Dobrudzha region were subjected to investigation.
Data from a competitive varietal trial are provided, comparing main economic parameters. Variety Fanagoriya equals the national standards by 1000 kernel weight, and possesses shorter stem and resistance to lodging. Its date to heading is about two days later than variety Veslets and one day later than variety Izgrev. The ratio between duration and rate of grain filling is balanced. During the four-year period of investigation, it exceeded the average standard for yield with 8.7 %.
