The article presents the results of a study of Manifestations of heterozis and
degrees of dominance in F1 hybrid generation in the inheritance of cob leaf area,
cm2, and the total leaf area of the whole plant,cm2,under high productive average
late hybrid maize Knezha 561. As a result of the study it was found that this hybrid
developed a large leaved area as the leaf at the cob – an average of 793.0 cm2,
and a large total leaf area of the whole plant – an average of 6877.0 cm2. The
dimension of heteroocosis in the inheritance of the leaf area of the sheet in the case
of the average of the two parent forms (hypothetical) is 23.5%, while the true one,
relative to the better parenting forms, is only 9.4%. Much higher are the values
of the heterozis in inheritance of the total leaf area of the whole plant – 36.7% is hypothetical and 22.1% respectively is the true heterosis of the total leaf area of
the better parental form. In both the indicator, degrees of dominance in F1 hybrid
generation are significantly above 1, indicating that they are inherited with positive
over-dominant allele interaction.
