The paper presents the results of a study of the influence of the presence and
absence of side shoots (breeds) of plants on some newly created high-yielding
sugar / sweet / corn hybrids on the height of the plants and the number of cobs
from a plant. Five newly created highly productive sugar / sweet / corn hybrids
have been studied, characterized by a lower degree of lateral growth as compared
to most common varieties of this type of corn. As a result of the study, it was found
that the height of the plants in the sugar / sweet / maize hybrids studied was not
significantly affected by the presence or absence of side branches of the plants. The
number of plant cobs in test sugars / sweet / maize hybrids is higher in plants having
side shoots, which is a trend, although this difference is not reliably proven.
Key words: Sugar /sweet/ corn, Influence of side shoots of plants.
